The Meaning Behind Our Logo: The Sankofa Symbol
Our logo is more than just a design it carries a deep cultural message.
At its heart is the Sankofa symbol, an Adinkra icon from the Akan people of Ghana.
What is Sankofa?
Sankofa is a Twi phrase from Ghana that means "to go back and get it". It's a symbol of the importance of learning from the past to move forward.
It reminds us that our past holds knowledge, wisdom, and identity, and that looking back is not a step backward, but a way forward. It is not taboo to go back and fetch what you have forgotten.
Why Sankofa?
Discover Diaspora is built on the same philosophy, helping diaspora communities, locals, and travellers have a a sense of belonging, rediscover, celebrate, and engage with cultural experiences, traditions, and meaningful connections.
